Is Net2 Being Discontinued?

No. Net2 Is Still Supported and Developed

Paxton released Net2 v7 in February 2026 and states that systems staying on v6.9 remain fully functional. What has changed is the oldest hardware: Net2 Classic controllers, which haven't been sold in the UK since 2014, cannot be upgraded past v6.9.

So for most Net2 sites the question isn't whether to replace everything. It's whether to swap a few Classic controllers for Net2 Plus, upgrade to v7, extend the system, or plan a gradual move to Paxton10. We'll give you a straight answer after a site visit.

Is Paxton Net2 being discontinued?

No. Paxton released Net2 v7 in February 2026 and states that systems staying on v6.9 remain fully functional. What has changed is the oldest hardware: Net2 Classic controllers, not sold in the UK since 2014, cannot be upgraded past v6.9.

My Net2 system has Classic controllers. What should I do?

Nothing urgent, it will keep working on v6.9. If you want v7 and its improved login security, the Classic controllers need replacing. Paxton describes Net2 Plus as a direct replacement, so it is usually a controller swap at each door rather than a new system.

What does Net2 v7 change?

Net2 v7 adds multi-factor authentication when logging in to the software, using email codes or an authenticator app. Paxton says the interface is unchanged, so no retraining is needed. We check your controllers and PC before upgrading.

Can you support a Net2 system someone else installed?

Yes. We regularly take on Net2 systems installed by other companies, including sites where the original installer is no longer around. We start with a health check of the controllers, readers, software and PC.

Can I upgrade from Net2 to Paxton10?

Yes. Paxton provides a migration path from Net2 to Paxton10. It needs Paxton10 controllers and a Paxton10 Server, and we check which of your existing readers and fobs can be reused during the survey, rather than assuming.

What is the difference between Net2 Lite and Net2 Pro?

Net2 Lite is Paxton's entry-level edition with standard access control features. Net2 Pro adds features such as lockdown, fire alarm and intruder alarm integration, anti-passback, timesheets, and Net2Online browser access.
